Basketball Manitoba is excited to announce that Kirby Schepp has been hired as its new 'Provincial High Performance Coach' for the 2007-08 year!  This is a newly created position for Basketball Manitoba that will bring Kirby on in an official capacity in managing the Association's coaching and high performance strategies, including the Provincial Team and Centre for Performance programs over the next year.  This includes acting in a consulting and technical support role for the coaches in these programs.  The position itself is a one-year trial and may grow to become a regular fixture for Basketball Manitoba.  On top of this, Kirby will also be undertaking a number of other projects looking at the
big picture of basketball development in the province, including…

    for teams ages 6-18 to be mass distributed for free by web technologies

    distributed for free by web technologies

  • The development of
    comprehensive grade appropriate phys ed. lesson plans for teachers to
    be mass distributed for free by web technologies

  • An active high school basketball coach and phys ed teacher (Silver Heights)

  • The head coach of Canada Basketball’s CP Prairie Region Boy's Program

  • Basketball Manitoba's most active NCCP Course Conductor (Levels 1-3)

  • Very involved in the redevelopment of the NCCP model at the national level

  • The past-president of the MBCA

  • A former provincial team coach, university assistant coach and university athlete at the University of Winnipeg




Kirby was also just recently named both the AAAA Boys Coach of the Year AND the Coaching Manitoba School System Coach of the Year in 2007.  



His term officially begins with Basketball Manitoba on April 30, 2007.
