Manitoba Foundation for Sports ScholarshipsThe Manitoba Foundation for Sports Scholarship Program provides an award of $500 to graduating high school students and $1,000 to students in the second or subsequent year of post-secondary education.The program's emphasis is placed on athletes who have competed at the provincial level or higher and who have maintained a high level of academic standing, while showing a commitment to amateur sport through their involvement in coaching, officiating and volunteer activities. The number of scholarships awarded annually varies, based on the number of applicants and the funds available for distribution. Princess Royal Pan Am ScholarshipThe Princess Royal Pan Am Scholarship Endowment Fund provides financial support for Manitoba's high performance athletes in their pursuit of excellence at the national and international levels of competition while serving as atribute to commemorate the Manitoba visit of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal in 1999. The Princess Royal Pan Am Scholarship awards two (2) scholarships per year valued up to $3,000 each to one male and one female high performance athlete enrolled in a post secondary institution in Manitoba. Women to Watch GrantA major initiative is the Women to Watch Grant Program. Working in partnership with Provincial Sport Organizations and Coaching Manitoba, Sport Manitoba provides a monthly grant of $500 to a female athlete, team, official or volunteer to assist them in enhancing their women in sport career.A $500 monthly grant is also awarded to a female coach to assist them in further developing the skills necessary to attain a higher level of coaching or increased level of coaching experience. Coaching MB Bursary AwardSilvio Sboto Memorial Rural Coach Award./Jeff Collins Memorial Winnipeg Coach Award.Coaching Manitoba Inc. presents four $500 bursaries annually to students who demonstrate a commitment to coaching in Manitoba. Our goal is to encourage students to continue coaching while attending a post-secondary institution. Students who are, or will be, enrolled in the upcoming school term in a post-secondary institution, have not won this award in the past, and are currently coaching for a school, club, or community centre are invited to submit an application. Grey Cup Legacy Fund: Coaching SeminarsThe Grey Cup Legacy Fund was established by the Grey Cup Festival Committee, with the surplus funds arising from the holding of the 1991 Grey Cup Game in Winnipeg, to promote excellence in football and other sports in Manitoba through the development of coaching expertise. Grants in support of coaching seminars may be made to host organization (university or provincial/regional sport association). Seminars must occur between July 1 and June 30 of the following year.Targeted at the development of coaches within a sport, or a number of sports, at the grassroots, developmental or high performance levels. Coaches need to be provided the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge, improve their skills and participate in coaching development seminars to supplement the information and techniques they have developed through the National Coaching Certification Program and their own experiences. Grey Cup Legacy Fund: Master Coach-in-ResidenceThis grant may be offered to a host organization to enable them to geta Master Coach to come for extended visits and help further develop their student coaches' practical knowledge and experience in which ever sport they are coaching. Grey Cup Legacy Fund: Sport Management InternshipThe 1991 Grey Cup Legacy Fund was established by the Grey Cup Festival Committee, with the surplus funds arising from the holding of the 1991 Grey Cup Game in Winnipeg, to promote excellence in football and other sports in Manitoba through the development of coaching expertise.Grants may be made to a host organization wishing to provide a hands-on, challenging, and individualized opportunity to further develop student’s professional skills. The internship will provide the opportunity for the student intern to become fully immersed in a Sport Organizations environment and be able to adapt to the demands of the Organization' goals and objectives.Activities must begin in the time period between July 1 and June 30 of the following year. Grey Cup Legacy Fund: High School Coach of the YearThe 1990 Grey Cup was held in Winnipeg for the first time and as a result, a profit was generated. Part of the profit was directed to a legacy for high school coaching. Each year the MHSAA selects its High School Coach of the Year and a $2,000 prize is awarded to this individual courtesy of the Grey Cup Legacy Fund.Students or players may nominate their coach or the coach of their choice to receive this award. This award was designed to reward coaches for their hard work. History and involvement of the coach, amount of teams coached, achievement of teams coached, time spent with players, leadership and guidance demonstrated may all play a role in the choosing of the High School Coach of the Year. Garett Lee Sidor Memorial Scholarship Fund
Garett Lee Sidor, a student at Windsor Park Collegiate was an outstanding young student athlete. His life tragically ended on May 13, 2007. Garett participated in many sports, including hockey, volleyball and basketball. He was selected as an All-Star in the 2007 Provincial “AAA” Basketball Championships which his Windsor Park Royals captured. He was also named to the All Manitoba Team. Garett’s friends and Family have set a scholarship to be awarded to a “AAA” high school basketball player who displays sportsmanship, leadership and outstanding ability. A scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded annually. Nominations will be taken by the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association and scholarship funds will be administered through the Garett Lee Sidor

Credit Unions of Manitoba Scholar Athlete AwardManitoba’s Credit Unions, in co-operation with the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association, will be selecting four individuals as outstanding scholar/athletes for the current school year. Each school in the province is invited to select their own outstanding male and female scholar athlete (one male, and one female per school). The nominees from each school will receive recognition certificates. All nominations will be considered for the provincial awards. Each of the four recipients will receive a $1,000.00 bursary courtesy of Manitoba’s Credit Unions, and an attractive plaque. The KidSport FundKidSport is a children's charity to assist children by overcomingfinancial barrier, which prevent or limit their participation in organized sport. This Fund is sustained by contributions from individuals and corporate sponsors and donations will vary from year to year. Eligibility does not ensure assistance and/or amounts may be less than requested. The KidSport Individual Equipment FundThe KidSport ™ Fund is a national charity created to assist childrenfrom financially disadvantaged families to enter into sport programs where they can develop life skills such as fair play, leadership and teamwork. The Fund collects and distributes new and used sporting equipment to children who cannot afford to purchase their own. Equipment is provided, as it is available, to either individuals (for personal owned equipment) and to organizations (for club owned equipment). The amount and type of equipment collected is limited.
