Lee brings a number of years of experience with the game of basketball
as a player at the university level as well as Manitoba’s Provincial
Basketball Team. In high school, Lee was named to the AAAA
All-Manitoba Team. She has also joined the coaching ranks with
Canada’s Centre of Performance and Shaftesbury Varsity Girls Team. She
offers a wealth of connections in both the basketball community and
school system.
Lee commented, “I am looking forward to starting the position as
Executive Director of the WMBA. Basketball has always been a strong
passion of mine and I am thrilled to be able to start a new career with
the grassroots level of basketball in Manitoba. My experience working
at Sport Manitoba will aid in the initial transition process. I am
enthusiastic to meet the volunteers who are the backbone of the league.”
WMBA President Ted Fardoe commented. "Through an extensive process we
have selected Lee Wedlake to join us as our new Executive Director. Lee
brings a vast basketball history, experience with sport administration
and a tremendous level of energy to the WMBA. I am sure Lee will lead
the WMBA into the future following the tradition of excellence provided by our past Executive Directors. On behalf of the Board of
Directors of the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association I would like to
congratulate and welcome Lee to the league. I would also like to
thank Susie Laping for her hard work and dedication over the past two
years."
As of March 24th, you can contact Lee Wedlake and Susie Laping directly at 925-5774 ext. 1 or by email.
