It is with great sadness that Basketball Manitoba shares the news of the passing of long-time basketball coach Nick Laping. Nick coached the basketball program at John Taylor Collegiate in the 1970's & 80's and was a very active and respected person in the Manitoba business, sport and education community. Nick also excelled in football at the University of Manitoba. He was up until his passing the Director of Advancement and Alumni affairs at St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg. Nick's children have been very active members of the basketball community with Jeff currently coaching the number 2 ranked St. Paul's Crusaders and daughter Susie the former Executive Director of the WMBA. Jeff is also a member of Manitoba's Canada Games coaching staff and President of the MBCA and Susie has coached basketball at many levels. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bev and the entire Laping family.
Visitation will take place in the gym at St. Paul's High School, 2200
Grant Avenue, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3 with
prayers at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will begin
at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 4 at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford
Avenue, with burial to follow immediately. All are invited to a
