An outcome of the recent MHSAA Annual General Meeting held June 14-16, 2009 was a change at the Junior Varsity basketball level to introduce 4 TEN minute periods for games beginning in the 2009-10 high school basketball season. This is a change from the 4 x 8 minute periods played at this level to date. The change mirrors the length of game played at the Varsity level in Manitoba. Another motion involving basketball at the high school level was made to move the shot clock and backcourt time line back to the pre-FIBA rules change of 30 and 10 seconds respectively. The motion did not pass and all games will continue playing at the current 24 and 8 seconds for the shot and backcourt respectively.
