Sport Manitoba hosted its annual Sport for Life Gala on Wednesday evening at the Fairmont Hotel, celebrating athletes, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers who have made outstanding accomplishments or contributions to the Manitoba sporting community in 2009. The finalists acknowledged from the basketball community that evening included Jeff Laping of St. Paul's High School up for Male Coach of the Year, Reid Kenyon as Official of the Year, the Vincent Massey Girls and Garden City Boys high school basketball teams up for Team of the Year and Mandy Johnson from wheelchair basketball as Female Coach of the Year.
