conducting Open try-outs for the 2010/2011 Club team on September 19,
2010 (Note New Date). This timing is consistent with new Basketball Manitoba and WMBA
timeline rulings intended to align with Long Term Athletic Development
guidelines (players, coaches and parents - let's REST in the summer!).
The 2010/2011 season will include a Fall warm up/readiness for school
season (limited practices, one or two tournaments), "quiet time" during
school season (some limited practice), then Spring Club season
including Rising Stars league play (April & May) as well as 2 local
tournaments (late April/Early May) and tournaments in Grand Forks (April
1 - end of Spring Break week) and another location TBD. The team will
be coached by former Wesmen players Sarah Reilly and Jess Stromberg and
assisted by Wesmen player Stephanie Kleysen. While subject to change,
generally practices take place on Wed and/or Sun evenings.
Tryout
will take place at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre. Time
will be 6 pm, continuing to 8pm but please arrive by 5:30 to check in
and warm up.
To be eligible to participate in the tryout,
players should register interest as soon as possible as space may be
limited. Please pre-register with your name, grade, school and position you normally play with an email to either yvmilner@mts.net or wankling@mts.net.
