It is with great sadness that Basketball Manitoba shares the news of the
passing of long-time basketball supporter Don Kerr. Involved in basketball for over fifty years, Don made his mark as a
coach, referee, and an administrator. Don coached senior women's and
junior men's teams. He also became a very competent referee.
His greatest contribution, however, was as an administrator.
For twenty years from 1960 thru 1980, he was an executive member of the
Manitoba Amateur Basketball Association, serving in many capacities;
but most notably as Treasurer. From 1970 thru 1972, Don also served as
President of the Canadian Amateur Basketball Association.
Don was instrumental in the formation of the Winnipeg Junior
Men's League in 1964, serving as Treasurer throughout its existence. In recognition of Don's tremendous contribution to basketball over the years, he was inducted into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame as a Builder in 1984. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kerr family. READ FULL OBITUARY
