The Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials is extremely proud and excited to announce that our inaugural 'Call A Foul on Cancer' Pink Whistle campaign raised $4,036 from our MABO officials, with an extra $510 donated directly to CancerCare Manitoba via the website, for a grand total of $4,546. The ‘Call A Foul On Cancer’ Pink Whistle Campaign set out to raise funds for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation by having participating MABO Officials wear ‘Pink Whistles’ from February 14 – 28 to show their support during all levels of basketball in the province, from Junior High to University. Officials who contributed a full game fee or more received a pink whistle to proudly wear during the approved time frame.
MABO would like to thank and acknowledge a fellow basketball official from British Columbia, Mr. Karn Dhillon, and the B.C. Basketball Officials Association for originating this wonderful campaign a couple of years ago and providing us with all their support.
We would also like to thank Nicola Starin at CancerCare Manitoba Foundation for her support and assistance in helping us get this campaign off the ground in such a short amount of time!
Last, but certainly not least, we would like to thank all of our officials and those who contributed online for their wonderful support during this campaign!
It is MABO’s intention to make this campaign an annual fund-raising event and continue to create awareness for the fight against this terrible disease.

Note: MABO would also like to remind our officials that the approved black whistle is mandatory for all levels of play outside of the Pink Whistle time period (i.e. the pink whistle is no longer approved at any level of play).
