The Manitoba Bisons women’s basketball team continues to prepare for the upcoming 2011-12 season by announcing another new recruit. Bisons women’s basketball head coach Pam Danis, entering her 11th season with Manitoba, is pleased to announce the commitment of Christiane Fischer to the Bison program for the 2011-12 season. Fischer, 21, is a 5’6” point guard who played the last two seasons at Northeast Community College in the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference (NCCAC). In the 2010-11 season, the Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany native was a team captain and averaged 6.5 points per game, 4.6 assists per game, 2.4 rebounds per game plus two steals per game while with the Hawks. In addition, she was also named to the 2009-10 NCCAC Women's All-Conference Team as the team recorded a 21-9 record and was the conference champions of the NCCAC.

Fischer was also Academic All-Region in 2010 and Academic All-American in 2011. Fischer exuded, “I am very excited for this new chapter in my life. I cannot wait to start working with my new teammates and coaches and get the possibility of being part of this team. I am sure that the U of Manitoba will give me the chance to make great experiences in the classroom, on the court and by interacting with the community of Manitoba.”
Prior to Northeast, she played in Germany with mhPlus Ludwigsburg from 2007-09 then BSG Ludwigsburg 2004-09 and BG Bietigheim/Tamm 2001-04 plus part of German National team roster in 2009 and 2010.
Danis stated, “We are looking forward to Chrissi having an immediate impact on our Bison program. She brings a wide range of experience and maturity to the team that will help fill out our core group. She is a natural point guard and consistent player that does small things that will make her team better.”
Bison basketball notes: The women’s basketball program has set up the Bisons Basketball Academy for Girls. The academy will have nine hours of on-court training and six hours of off-court sessions.
