ImageBasketball Manitoba is pleased to announce try-out details for the Basketball Canada/Basketball Manitoba Center for Performance training program for 2011-12.  This year’s Center for Performance is for male and female athletes born in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000.  Try-outs for the Center for Performance are September 11, 2011 at the University of Winnipeg at the following times...









All Tryouts will occur at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre, 400 Spence Street in Winnipeg



  • 9:00am to 10:30am – Girls Session # 1 

  • 10:30am to 12:00pm – Boys Session # 1

  • 12:00pm to 1:30pm – Girls Session # 2

  • 1:30pm to 3:00pm – Boys Session #2








Tryout Notes: 

  • $25.00 tryout fee (cash or cheque payable to Basketball Manitoba) due at the first tryout.

  • All players are to complete the proper tryout form - CP Tryout Form (PDF) either in advance or on-site at the first session.

  • Show up at least 20 minutes before the first session to register.

  • No preregistration required

  • Basketballs will be provided at all sessions.

  • Players are to come dressed ready to play! 

  • Players will be asked to come to both of the above sessions.





The Center for Performance targets young athletes with elite level potential and provides a high quality training environment help them reach their potential and hopefully one day represent Canada internationally.






Program details for 2011-2012;



  • targets high potential athletes born 1997 or later.

  • the center focuses on fundamentals and basic team concepts

  • players are trained as “global players”, multi-skilled and multi positional

  • the group will train 3 times per week from September 15 to November 30

  • includes two on-court sessions and one athletic training session per week

  • sessions are paused for the school seasons

  • sport science sessions are included in the schedule

  • special sessions run by Basketball Canada and university coaches

  • training group will compete in a tournament in the U.S. in November and local exhibition games/scrimmages

  • final training sessions in late March & April leading to 15U Provincial Team tryouts




Athletes who make the CP program will be required to pay a $375.00 registration fee (payable to 'Basketball MB'). This fee will cover all training costs (coaching, gym rental, etc), a gear package and insurance.


 


The girls program is lead by CP Head Coach Stacey Hawash. The boys program is lead by CP Head Coach Dan Becker.
