The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and Women’s Basketball head coach Tanya McKay today announced the commitment of Megan Noonan to the Women’s Basketball Program for the start of the 2012-2013 Canada West season next September. Noonan a 5’7 guard from Fort Richmond Collegiate averaged 15 points, 10 assists and 4 steals per game for the Centurions during the 2010-2011 season. She was ranked number ten in the annual High School Girl’s Basketball Coaches Poll last March.
She was the starting point guard for the Fort Richmond Junior Varsity team that won the provincial Championships in 2009-2010. She also was recognized for her strong play by being named the Most Valuable Player.
Noonan has been a member of the Manitoba Provincial Team for four years (2008-2011) playing along side future Wesmen team mates Lauren Anderson and Kerri Kuzbyt.
Currently in her final year at Fort Richmond, Noonan is a solid student with an overall average of 94%.
“I have had the opportunity to Coach Megan the past two summers with the Manitoba Juvenile Provincial Team. She is extremely hard working, very coachable, reliable and motivating to be around. She has developed into a scoring guard over the past few years. Her touch with the ball is natural and along with her great court awareness she is always a threat on the floor. We are very excited Megan will be joining our Wesmen Program in Sept. 2012”, said Wesmen head coach Tanya McKay.
