Course Descriptions:






Make Ethical Decisions - An NCCP module. Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to: analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications and; apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.






Sport Injury and Prevention - Led by the experts at the Sport Medicine Centre, this session will look at common injuries in sport and how to identify, prevent and manage them for your athletes.







Managing Conflict - A NCCP module. The Managing Conflict module will allow you to: identify common sources of conflict in sport; determine which individuals or groups are most likely to find themselves in situations involving conflict; learn important skills that will help you prevent and solve conflict resulting from misinformation, miscommunication or misunderstanding and; develop skills that will empower you to listen and speak effectively in conflict situations while maintaining positive relationships with athletes, parents, officials and other coaches that helps coaches learn how to manage different types of conflict that may encounter






The Concussion Experience - An informative session related to concussion management. Highlights include, diagnosis and treatment in concussion management including, signs and symptoms of a concussion as well the management of an athlete with a concussion.






Age Appropriate Training - Taking the Long Term Athlete Development model and putting it into your practice for the FUNdamentals, Learn to Train and Train to Train stages of athletes focusing on appropriate physical skill development.


 


Dealing with Environmental Factors - Understanding Asthma Management and helping to train athletes with Asthma. Also covering topics such as storms, heat, cold, humidity, wind- chill along with indoor and outdoor air quality. All are factors to be aware of when coaching for athlete safety. This session will highlight some of the major implications coaches need to consider in the environment they practice in. 


 


Register - All sessions begin at 6:30pm and will be held at the Sport for Life building, 145 Pacific Avenue.
