The Manitoba Magic are pleased to announce that its 17U Girls Basketball Tournament held in October raised $1400 for the Canadian Hemophilia Society.  The CHS thanks John and Melanie Barbosa and their family for coordinating the event!  John coaches his daughter’s 17U Girls Club Team, Team Magic Barbosa, and organized the October 15th, 2011 tournament. John’s family worked an awareness table the Saturday and Sunday of the tournament, accepting donations to the Chapter and handing out information on Willebrand’s disease.

The youngest Barbosa, Matthew, has hemophilia and started the tournament with a ceremonial tip-off. Team Magic Barbosa won the exciting game for the championship against the Jr. Wesmen.  Thank you to The Manitoba Magic families and businesses that contributed to the final monies donated. The tournament raised over $1400.  Other thanks to Basketball Manitoba, Home Run Sports, Boston Pizza, physiotherapist – Melanie Talastas, Brian Kowalchuck, John Hanlan, Tammy Johnson, Jayann Majewski, Dean Barth, Terry Gramiak, and Deanna Einarson and a special thank you to the Barbosa family for bringing this fundraiser and awareness opportunity to the local Chapter.
