The Basketball Manitoba Women's Summer League has it's second week in the books after 4 more games at the University of Manitoba campus.
Game 1 - Saw the 17U Provincial Team tip-off against the powerful All Stars 1 in a battle of youth vs. experience and a match-up of two undefeated teams. The 17U team opened up the game with a 11-0 run and looked to be clear sailing until the All Stars came back with powerful inside play of Michelle Foreman and the all around scoring of JoAnn Smalls who led the game in scoring with 24 points. When the final horn sounded the All Stars 1 were victorious by a score of 72-58. Emily Potter led the 17U girls team with 11 points while Jenilyn Monton chipped in 9 points, followed up by Nikki Majewski and Atoosa Jalayeri with 8 each.
Game 2 - In a match-up of CIS and MCAC power teams, the University of Winnipeg Wesmen defeated the Red River Rebels 79-53. The Wesmen were led by Lauren "The Big L" Anderson and Alex Warburton with 16 points each. The Rebels Tremaine Francis dropped in 15 points for the game.
Game 3 - Displayed the continued strong play of the University of Winnipeg College Wesmen as they defeated a very good All Stars 2 team in close game, 55-52. Breanne Nichol scored 14 for the Wesmen while Mel Schlichter and Kait Flett tossed in 14 for the All Stars.
Game 4 - In the final match-up of week 2 the University of Manitoba Bisons defeated the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers 88-32. Brittany Koop and Rebbecca Potter led the Bisons with 19 and 15 points respectively. Mallory Shack was CMU leading scorer with 12 points.
