Thursday evening's Basketball Manitoba Annual General Meeting saw a number of Board positions turn over and the motion to extend new voting privileges pass unanimously. Leaving the Board include members Rick Horaska and Bryan Grey who opted not to let their names stand for reelection. Board Members who departed the organization prior to the AGM this past year included Randy Kusano and Jana Taylor who stepped down to coach in the Provincial Team program. Voted on the to Board by the membership were incumbents Barry Draward (Treasurer), Don Lamont (Vice President) and Trish Hallson along with new members Tanya McKay, Kirby Schepp and Neil Gottfred. In all, the Board is comprised of 10 total members who also include Joe DiCurzio (President), Rod Peppler, Ross Wedlake and Shirley Blanca, who were not up for election in 2012. Basketball Manitoba would like to sincerely thank Rick and Bryan for all their tremendous years of commitment and dedication to the sport and to the organization. The lone motion on the table of the evening included a change to the voting privileges available at the AGM to now include single votes for Brandon University, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, the Manitoba Wheelchair Sports Association, the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) and two votes for the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA). This change will come into effect at the 2013 AGM and was accepted by the current membership unanimously. In all, the meeting was attended by Basketball Manitoba members including Winnipeg Minor Basketball, Fort Garry Men's Basketball League, Manitoba Basketball Coaches Association, Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials, Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame, a number of clubs and members of the Basketball Manitoba Board and Staff. The 2013 AGM will be held on June 13.
