Brandon University Athletics is pleased to announce a series of high-performance training sessions for female basketball players.  The Bobcats Basketball Academy is a skill-development and training opportunity for experienced basketball players aged 13-17. Participants will receive instruction from CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) coaches and athletes that focuses on skill development and team play with lessons on strength and conditioning, sports psychology, and nutrition.

“In the short time that I’ve been here, people have inquired and have requested a program like the Bobcats Basketball Academy,” says Bobcats head coach Novell Thomas. “I’m very excited to be able to offer this type of program to the basketball players in the Westman region and work closely with them.”

Space in the program is limited, and all participants will receive a Bobcats Basketball Academy jersey, as well as admission to all Brandon University Bobcats basketball home games for the 2012-13 season.

There will be 16, two-hour training sessions running from November through April. The first session on October 28 will take place at BU’s Healthy Living Centre. The session will be an open-house with information on the program, demonstrations by athletes, and any interested participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the coaches and instructors.
