CMU Athletics has announced the hiring of Billy Isaac as the fourth head coach in the history of the CMU Blazers Men’s Basketball program. The native-Winnipegger comes to CMU with coaching experience at the high school level in both Winnipeg and rural Manitoba and also spent a season coaching in South Carolina, while working in a teaching exchange program in 2007. Last summer, Isaac coached a Winnipeg-based U16 boys team that represented their region at the 2012 Manitoba Games in Swan River. Isaac teaches at Winnipeg’s Linden Christian High School and has been coaching the JV boys Wings since 2010. Isaac is a passionate basketball coach who is thrilled to have the opportunity to move up the coaching ranks from the high school to the Manitoba College level.
“Coach Isaac comes to our program with very positive reviews from his references, his high school and from Basketball Manitoba,” says Director of Athletics, Russell Willms, “He is truly a positive person and has great energy for the game and I am confident that he will bring that positivity to a program that has a history of success.”
Isaac and the Blazers open their 2013 Men’s Basketball Preseason with an exhibition game at home, September 27th against the Providence Freemen as part of CMU’s Fall Festival events.
