The Manitoba Provincial Wheelchair Basketball Program has announced that it is currently recruiting able body athletes and athletes with physical disabilities. Wheelchair Basketball is fully integrated, meaning the sport is coed and eligible to people with and without physical disabilities. The age eligibility for Canada Games participation is 13 – 24 before January 1, 2015.
Overview: The Canada Games are Canada's largest national multi-sport competition for young athletes. The event brings together the top young amateur athletes in Canada who compete for their respective province or territory. The Canada Games take place every two years, alternating between the summer and winter program. The Games act as a stepping stone in the development of Canada's next generation of national, international, Olympic and Paralympic champions. Each province has played host to the Games at least once since their inception in Quebec City in 1967. Wheelchair basketball made its debut at the winter edition of the Canada Games in 1995.
