Wheelchair Basketball Coach and Player Development Opportunities Set for Jan 31-Feb 2 in Winnipeg

The Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association has announced it will be hosting both a coach and player development weekend on January 31 to February 2, 2014 in Winnipeg.  The opportunities include both an Introduction to Competition Coaching Clinic and open player's camp which is open to males and females with or without a physical disability.


WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL CLINIC WEEKEND 

February 1 and 2, 2014
Whether you are a current player wanting to hone your skills or a beginner with a desire to grow, this clinic is for you!  Facilitators from Wheelchair Basketball Canada will lead the clinic, along with Coaches from Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association. The weekend will focus on skills development, drill work, rules of the game, game playing.

Saturday February 1, 2014 – St. Alphonsus School, 343 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg:

• 8:00am – 8:30 am – Arrival and check-in.
• 8:30 am – 12:30 pm - Skills Development, Gym Sessions.
• 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm – Lunch (included).
• 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm – Skills, Drills, Gym Sessions.

Sunday February 2, 2014 – St. Alphonsus School, 343 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg:

• 8:00 am – 8:30 am – Arrivals and check-in.
• 8:30 am – 12:00 pm – Skills, Drills, Gym Session.
• 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm – Lunch (included).

Introduction to Competition NCCP Coaching Clinic

Wheelchair Basketball Canada will be hosting an Introduction to Competition Coaching Clinic in Winnipeg, MB from January 31, 2014 – February 2, 2014. The clinic will be led by two Learning Facilitators from Wheelchair Basketball Canada.

When:

• Friday January 31, 2014: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (Classroom)
• Saturday February 1, 2014: 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM (Gym & Classroom)
• Saturday February 2, 2014: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Gym & Classroom)

Where:

• Gym & Classroom Feb 1 and 2: Classroom: Friday January 31 Sport For Life
• St. Alphonsus School 145 Pacific Ave - 343 Munroe Ave, Winnipeg Winnipeg

Who:

• Individuals interested in coaching within the Competition stream of the new NCCP. 
• This course is a pre-requisite to obtain Competition – Development, (along with Comp-Int Advanced) which is the requirement for Canada Games coaching eligibility (for those not previously Level 3 certified).

Cost:

• The fee to complete the course is $250 – Payable to Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association. 
• All coach candidates are responsible for their own travel and accommodations. 
• Some costs may be recovered through previously approved 2013-2014 WBC Special Project Funding.
