DEADLINE MONDAY: Manitoba is rich with countless remarkable sport people of all ages with amazing stories of success, service and dedication. We have young individual athletes and teams garnering national and international attention for their athletic abilities, volunteers of all ages dedicating their time to ensure a brighter, stronger amateur sport system in Manitoba, officials who guarantee decorum and fair play, and coaches who lead, develop, and mentor Manitobans who participate in sport.

Each year, the sport community gathers at the annual Night of Champions to celebrate the achievements of our nominees for the Sport Manitoba Awards and name the winners in the following categories:

• The Manitoba Chicken Producers Junior Female Athlete of the Year
• The Manitoba Chicken Producers Junior Male Athlete of the Year
• The Calm Air Junior Team of the Year 
• The Great-West Life Volunteer of the Year 
• The Great-West Life Youth Volunteer of the Year 
• The Sport Manitoba Official of the Year 
• The Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Female Coach of the Year *
• The Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Male Coach of the Year *

*Please note that these nominees are selected from the nominees of the Coaching Manitoba Excellence Awards.

Who are these remarkable Manitobans?  Please send your suggestions to your Provincial Sport Organizations and encourage them to nominate today.  Please note: Nominations for the Great-West Life Volunteer and Youth Volunteer of the Year are open to the general public. If you know a dedicated sport volunteer, please nominate them and recognize them for their accomplishments!

The Night of Champions will also feature a salute to the Manitobans who competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
