The Brandon University Bobcats have announced details on its new Junior Bobcats club basketball program for girls, aged 17 and under. This year there will be a U17, U15 and U14 team.  Junior Bobcats will be an intense, competitive and fun spring basketball program. Participants will train at a high level and will definitely see improvement in their game. Current Bobcat coaches and players will be coaching the teams.

"I can honestly guarantee that participants will be given the quality of coaching required, to learn and improve," says Bobcats women's basketball coach Novell Thomas. "From a coaching standpoint I plan on being really involved and hands-on. I want to see these teams and the players involved improve and make an impact when they return to their respective school teams."

Club teams will travel to games and tournaments within and outside of the province of Manitoba.

There will be ID sessions for participants on Wednesday April 2 from 6-8pm, Saturday April 5 from 11am – 3pm, and Sunday April 6 from 2-5pm.  The weekend practices will be 1.5 hours and the exact times will be communicated after the Wednesday session. Participants are expected to attend all three sessions. The cost for the first three sessions is $35 + gst.

The purpose of the Junior Bobcats program is to develop players and have more children and youth from the region playing basketball. Playing time will be granted to those who demonstrate the following (in no particular order): great work ethic, great attitude, commitment to practices, an understanding of team concepts, and the ability to apply team concepts.

All training sessions will take place at Brandon University's Healthy Living Centre. For more information visit: www.gobobcats.ca/juniorbobcats
