The University of Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Basketball head coach Mike Raimbault has announced the commitment of Frankie Tocci, a 6’6” forward from Maples Collegiate to the University of Winnipeg Men’s Basketball Program for the start of the 2015-2016 Canada West season in September.
Tocci was a team co-captain for the Marauders this past season and played an integral role in helping the school reach the Provincial Championships. He averaged 18 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks per game in his final season of high school basketball. A solid defensive player, he was able to change many games this past season with his uncanny ability to alter, disrupt and deflect every shot that came into the paint.
A prolific player above the rim, Tocci averaged three dunks per game. He was the slam dunk contest champion at the Archbishop O’Leary Tournament held in Edmonton back in February.
He was a member of the U17 Manitoba Provincial Team that won the gold medal at the Canada Basketball National Championships held in Edmonton this past summer.
A multi-sport athlete, he also participated in volleyball and baseball for the Marauders this past season.
