Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Basketball head coach Mike Raimbault has announced the commitment of Kieran McGrath from Glenlawn Collegiate to the University of Winnipeg Men’s Basketball Program this September for the start of the 2015-2016 Canada West season.

“We are happy to welcome Kieran McGrath to the program. He brings a great work ethic, strong character, and will be a valuable addition in the years to come”, added Wesmen Men’s Basketball head coach Mike Raimbault

McGrath a 6-3 guard and team co-captain is averaging 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists per game for the Lions this season. A prolific shooter, he is connecting on 40% of his three point shot attempts while averaging 53% from the floor.

As a grade 11 player he led the team in scoring and played a big part in leading the Lions to the MHSAA 4A Provincial Championship game. He was a member of the Manitoba Provincial 17U Team that won the gold medal this past summer at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.

"Kieran is deserving of all that he achieves. He is incredibly hard-working and has been a leader by example on the court and in the classroom for all four years that he has been a student athlete at Glenlawn. His growth as a complete player has been exciting to see and I look forward to watching his continued development at the University of Winnipeg", said Jon Wolfe Glenlawn Collegiate Varsity Boy's Basketball head coach.

A multi-sport talent, McGrath was a starter for the Glenlawn Lions Varsity Boy’s Volleyball team.

He currently possesses an average of 86% in his final year at Glenlawn Collegiate. He has a future ambition to study Science upon graduation.
