Tryouts for the teams will take place on May 22-24, 2015 at the University of Winnipeg. The program will culminate at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Halifax (15U & 17U male), Edmonton (15U & 17U female) and the Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray, AB (16U male & female) this July & August. Team Manitoba is coming off its best summer ever with two gold medals at the 17U level, a silver at 16U male, a bronze at 16U female and a 4th place finish at 15U male.
Each spring, Basketball Manitoba coordinates provincial teams at the 17U, 16U and 15U age categories for both male and female athletes. All ages are based on December 31 of the year the tryouts occur.
The teams will be selected from open tryouts May 22-24 and May 29-31, 2015 at the University of Winnipeg and any Manitoba resident who is in one defined age categories is eligible and welcome to tryout. Once the teams are chosen, they train and compete together through June and July and participate in their respective National Basketball Championships.
