One of the Provinces top scorers will be joining the University of Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Basketball Program next season. Head coach Mike Raimbault is pleased to announce that William Sesay from Oak Park High School has committed to joining the team in September for the 2015-2016 Canada West season.
“We are excited to welcome Will Sesay to our program. He has a strong history of winning and we feel that he will be a great addition to our program for years to come”, said University of Winnipeg Wesmen Men’s Basketball head coach Mike Raimbault.
Sesay a 6’3” guard is averaging 18 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in his final year of high school basketball for the Raiders. This past December he scored 30 points in the championship game and was named MVP of The Metro News High School Boy’s Classic after leading his team to a 77-68 victory over Garden City. He was recently named the Most Valuable Player of the North-South Varsity Boys’ Basketball Showdown to go along with all-star selections at the Piper Classic, Western Canada Tournament (Kelowna) and the Silver Fox Tournament (Hamilton).
He has been a member of the Manitoba Provincial Team on three occasions and was a starter for the 17U team that won the gold medal this past summer at the Canada Basketball National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta.
Sesay is no stranger to the “Wesmen Family” as he first started playing organized basketball at the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre as member of the Inner City Jr. Wesmen team.
An accomplished student, he presently holds an 85% average at Oak Park High School.
“William has a great feel for the game and makes everyone he plays with that much better. It has been a privilege to coach Will for the past seven years and I look forward to following his university playing career”, said Oak Park Raiders head coach Jon Lundgren.
