This week, Basketball Manitoba, along with the University of Winnipeg and True North Sports & Entertainment coordinated a successful test installation of half the hardwood floor on the turf at the new U of W RecPlex. The floor was recently used at the Harlem Globetrotters game this past weekend. The test was performed to gauge how the hardwood floor would sit on the artificial turf and to ensure the set up in August would go as planned. The hardwood floor is first being placed on plywood which acts as the base.
The space will act as one of the courts along with the Duckworth Centre gymnasium that will be set up this summer as part of the Canada Basketball National Championships set for August 1-6, 2016.
