The 2017 Canada Summer Games Host Society has announced the entertainment lineup for the 2017 Canada Summer Games Countdown to the Games: One Year To Go event. This free event will take place 4PM – 9PM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at The Plaza at The Forks and will feature some of Manitoba’s most celebrated musical talent.
“At Payworks, corporate community giving takes many forms, including local sponsorship and we are thrilled to be a part of the Countdown to the Games: One Year To Go Celebration,” said JP Perron, President of Payworks. “This will be the largest event until the Games kickoff in 2017 and we’re pleased to help bring our community together for this celebration.”
Headlining acts include JP Hoe, Leonard Sumner, Kelly Bado, and Dirty Catfish Brass Band. DJ Mama Cutsworth will open and close the event.
Fourteen of the sixteen Canada Summer Games sports, including basketball, will be represented on-site, each hosting interactive activities throughout the evening. Patrons will be able to see how many baskets you can sink in 30 seconds, test the speed of their pitch, perfect their rowing technique, and vie for soccer’s hardest kick among other games. In addition to sport activations, patrons can catch the spirit of the Games at the official 2017 Canada Summer Games Gear merchandise tent and play games and take selfies with Niibin (the Games’ mascot).
“We are very pleased to have Payworks’ support for the Games,” said Hubert Mesman, Co-Chair of the 2017 Canada Summer Games Host Society. “These Games represent another great opportunity to showcase our city and province to the rest of the country and this lineup is an exciting preview into what the 2017 Canada Summer Games festival has in store.”
