The Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) releases schedule for the upcoming 2017 basketball season. The season will begin on Friday, November 3 at Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) as both men’s and women’s Blazers host the visiting Association Free Lutheran Bible School Crusaders from Plymouth, Minnesota. This will begin the crossover games between the MCAC and the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC) this season.
The Red River College (RRC) Rebels will begin their season south of the border as both men’s and women’s teams visit the Leech Lake Tribal College Lakers from the NIAC in Cass Lake, Minnesota.
In January, each men’s teams will begin playing before each women’s teams during double headers for the remainder of the season.
The first highly anticipated rematch of last season’s finalists will take place on Sunday, November 12 as both women’s and men’s CMU Blazers host the visiting RRC Rebels at 2pm and 4pm respectively.
The MCAC Championships will take place on Saturday, February 10 at CMU’s Loewen Athletic Centre. The men’s game will be first at 6pm with the women’s game following at 8pm.
The NIAC Championships will take place the following week from Thursday, February 15 to Saturday, February 17.
