Congratulations to Dr Grant Pierce who was inducted into the Order of Manitoba this week for his research in cardiovascular medicine! Dr. Pierce is the founder of the Hoops from the Heart basketball event that is celebrating its 10th year on Aug 8 at the Duckworth Centre.
The province’s highest honour, the Order of Manitoba recognizes Manitobans who have enriched the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province.
Dr. Pierce’s research in cardiovascular medicine has brought scientific acclaim to Manitoba through his participation in a series of studies to stop or reverse heart muscle disease or blood vessel wall injury. He helped develop the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and helped found the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine, both at St. Boniface Hospital.
