The Pilots basketball team adds height from post Amala Hutchinson.
Amala Hutchinson, a 6-foot-1 post from Shaftesbury High School, committed to the Pilots for the 2019-2020 basketball season. Amala comes to Providence to study in the Science program. Amala played four years of varsity basketball at Shaftesbury high school, out of Winnipeg. She was her team captain in her junior and senior seasons, while helping lead her team to two championship banners.
“I am very excited to be able to continue my basketball career with Providence this upcoming season.” Said Amala, “From the moment I walked into the gym, I knew Providence was the school for me to grow as an individual and a player. Go Pilots!”
Head coach Joel Coursey had this to say about his fourth signing of the season, “We are very excited to begin working with Amala. She has been out of the game for a year now as she graduated from Shaftesbury in 2018, but she is excited to get back in the gym and start working on her game. At 6’1”, our goal is to make her a scary presence on the court. I think what drew her into our program was the culture we have established, and ultimately those are the people we want on our team.”
