Schedule
June 7
Basketball (Court 1) with Dr. Dish (Court 2):
- Lead: Coach Jon Giesbrecht
- Session 1: 6-7 p.m.
- Session 2: 7-8 p.m.
- Session 3: 8-9 p.m.
- Skill breakdown - dribbling, passing and shooting instruction (30 min)
- Small-sided games - 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 and use of Dr. Dish shooting machine (30 min)
June 8
Badminton (Court 1):
- Session 1: 5-6:30 p.m.
- Session 2: 6:30-8 p.m.
- Introduction, warm-up, grip and backhand serve (30 min)
- Box game and other modified games (30 min)
- Forehand serve and basic singles tactics (15 min)
- Singles games (15 min)
Table tennis (Court 2):
- Session 1: 5-6:30 p.m.
- Session 2: 6:30-8 p.m.
- Understanding the game - rules of table tennis and information on teams and leagues (20 min)
- Robot and motorball training - Learn basic forehand and backhand technique for topspin and bottom spin as well as footwork techniques (40 min)
- Team and/or individual games (30 min)
June 9
Wheelchair Basketball & Phys. Ed. Games (Court 1):
- Session 1: 9-10:30 a.m.
- Session 2: 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Introduction to wheelchair basketball - information on the sport, equipment, safety and pushing/seating components (10 min)
- Warm-up and chair skills (20 min)
- Dribbling, passing and shooting skills (30 min)
- Scrimmage/wheelchair phys ed games (30 min)
Fit Kids Healthy Kids (Court 2 *no registration):
- Session 1: 9-10 a.m. - Motion Zone for all ages and games for ages 2-6
- Session 2: 10-11 a.m. - Motion Zone for all ages and games for ages 7+
- Session 3: 11a.m.-12 p.m. - Motion Zone and games for all ages and families
- *The Motion Zone is a free play zone with unique equipment and games to play with staff. This is a large area where kids can get active in an unrestricted/free play setting. Staff actively engage with children, talk about the importance of physical activity, and teach them fun things to do that can improve their fundamental movement skills!
