Canada Basketball has announced the city of Kingston will host the 2020 U15 and U17 Boys National Championships with the Girls National Championships being hosted by Prince Edward Island. This will be a new 2-year hosting cycle for the 2 provinces with the 2021 event shifting to the Niagara Falls region as part for the next Canada Games.
Each site will host approximately 20 teams each at the 15U and 17U ages comprised of the best basketball talent their provincial and territorial area has to offer, as they compete for the national title in each age group.
Competition dates for the 2020 National Championships are tentatively scheduled for August 3-8, 2020 with finals taking place on Saturday, August 8th.
“National Championships are a critical component to the continued growth and development of the game of basketball across our country,” said Glen Grunwald, President & CEO, Canada Basketball. “Many players within our national team programs have proudly represented their province or territory in the past and I look forward to watching some of the nation’s top players in Kingston next summer.”
In 2021, St. Catharines, Ontario will host the Canada Games at the 17U age level with the 15U teams heading back to PEI.
