Here’s what's lined up for Thursday, February 20 in the Sport Manitoba Conference Centre:
6:30 p.m. – Optimizing Sleep Quality: How Athletes Can Overcome Sleep Disruptions to Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep with Dr. Norah Vincent Insomnia is one of the most common sleep disruptions athletes may face, alongside parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and daytime sleepiness. Dr. Norah Vincent will explain how coaches, parents and athletes can recognize sleep disruptions during the season and will discuss evidence-based strategies athletes can use to overcome these problems leading into a competition.
7:45 p.m. – Student-Athlete College and University Recruitment Information Session with Dan Becker, Hailey Unger, and David Larkins
This panel discussion will prepare athletes and their families for the collegiate level recruitment process. Listen to the information and perspective of national team scouts, university coaches, and athletes who have been through it. These coaches have years of experience and understand what it takes to be the best. Listen as they enlighten athletes on ways to stand out as a recruit, do’s and don’ts of contacting coaches, questions to ask potential programs, and ways to prepare for the student-athlete experience.
