Coach Joel Coursey has announced the signing of Emma Moar which brings this off-season's signings to four. Emma, a 5'4" guard from Winnipeg, Manitoba, comes to the Pilots after playing on the Manitoba Magic and her high school team Transcona Collegiate Institute. Emma is known for her ambitious and smart play on the court. Her encouraging attitude will make her a valued teammate.
“I’m excited to take this next step, not only in my educational journey, but in life as well," said Emma, "I’m grateful for this opportunity not only to fulfill my dream of continuing to play basketball after high school, but also pursuing my passion of studying social sciences while building a stronger foundation in my faith.”
Emma comes to the Pilots with an impressive high school career as a KPAC champion in 2017 and a finalist in 2018 and 2020. She was team captain this past season and was awarded all-star status. Besides being athletic she is also an honour roll student. Emma plans on studying social sciences here at Providence.
Coach Joel Coursey commented on his newest recruit by saying, “It’s strange times recruiting. No one has ever had to recreate the way they recruit in the ways we all have this spring. I have had multiple chats with Emma and gotten to know her over the past few weeks. I believe Emma fits our program's values and will excel at Providence. She understands what we are all about and she wants to be a part of that. From the first communication, Emma was excited about Providence. I think Emma is a passionate and motivated individual who will thrive in an environment that challenges her. Emma joins a strong returning crew, who is poised to build on their strong 2019 season. I think she will help us achieve our goals in 2020!”
