Basketball Manitoba is pleased to announce the Targeted Athlete Program (TAP) will be hosting tryouts for its female and male programs for the 2021-2022 season from August 17-20, 2021 at the Sport Manitoba Courts (aka Canada Games Sport for Life Centre). TAP is a high-performance training program that includes on-court and off-court training as well as game competition in local league and tournament play in Canada and the USA (health orders permitting). The TAP teams will train approximately 3 times per week at the Sport Manitoba Courts in addition to tournament and gameplay.
The female program will look to fill 20 spots for the 15U group and 20 spots for the 17U age group. Each age group (15U or 17U) will field two teams of 10 players. The female 15U age group is for players born in 2007 or later. The female 17U age group is for players born in 2005 & 2006. The male program is looking for players to fill 20 spots, that group will make two teams of 10 players each, one team for players born in 2006 and one for players born in 2007 or later.
The TAP program runs from September to May and will pause with once-a-week optional sessions during the school basketball season (December to March). This year's TAP athletes will also have access to the Alliance Athletics' app-based physical development program.
