The weekend will have special significance for Adrianna Proulx, as she'll be starting her final year as a Bobcat in her hometown.

"It means a lot. I've wanted to go back to my community for so long and be able to play in front of my hometown and all the people I grew up with. That's where it all started for me when I first picked up a basketball when I was in grade 6. The court that we're going to play on means so much to me and holds so many dear memories. It really does mean a lot and I can't wait," says Adrianna Proulx.

"With Covid and what that's done to sport and northern communities and all those kids that didn't necessarily get the opportunity these past few years, if we can go there and get some kids to fall in love with basketball that would mean so much to me," Proulx adds.

Proulx is leading a team that is coming out of the 2020-21 Covid-cancelled season and returns a roster comprised of returning athletes and promising incoming players.

For all involved it will not only be the official return to the hard court but also a great opportunity to outreach and bring the game of basketball to northern Manitoba.

"As a program we are incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to visit Thompson. Taking part in trips like this allows us to share our Brandon Bobcats enthusiasm for the sport and engage with amazing communities such as Thompson. The team is especially looking forward to sharing our love of basketball with the people of Thompson as we can all learn and grow through participating in sport. We encourage anyone in the region to come out and cheer us on and participate in the fantastic community events. It is a great time to be a Bobcat."

Provincial health orders will be in effect.
