Due to the current and changing public health orders surrounding the global pandemic, Basketball Manitoba has made the difficult decision not to host its annual Junior High Basketball Championships this March. The decision was made carefully factoring information, including...
- Feedback received in a recent survey sent to all junior high/middle school coaches involved in the 2018 and 2019 JHBC events including gauging interest to participate in this year's event.
- The inability to secure adequate locations within the school system to host games, including feedback from each respective school division phys ed coordinator. Other non-school venues were also pursued as hosts to no avail.
- Limited to no inter-divisional tournaments this season which would have been used to seed the Championships.
- Activity in the Basketball Manitoba Forums among teams seeking or hosting tournaments at this level and the volume of game results at this level being reported to the Rogers Scoreboard.
Basketball Manitoba will make plans to host the event again in March 2023 as the effects on the school basketball system at this level are expected to see an almost return to normal for the 2022-23 school year.
