Today on the Basketball Manitoba Podcast we have Michelle Sung (Hynes).
Michelle is the Head coach of the University of Manitoba Bisons Women’s program, where she is entering her 8th year of service.
She is a product of Millgrove, Ontario, where she attended St. Mary High School. After that, she attended the University of Manitoba, where she played for five years.
During her time with the Bisons, she was an Academic All-Canadian, was team captain and finished her career 4th all-time in total assists in Bison history.
Additionally, she received the Sylvia Sweeney Award – presented to a player who demonstrates outstanding achievement in basketball, academics, and community involvement.
After finishing with the Bisons, Sung spent a year playing professionally in Belgrade, Serbia.
She then pivoted to coaching, as she was an assistant coach with the
- 17U Manitoba provincial team,
- was an assistant coach with Team Canada's Paralympic Basketball Team,
- a performance analyst with Team Canada's Development Team,
- and also named to the U17 women's national team that represented Canada at the FIBA World Championships in 2016.
