Anastasia Bucsis
Anastasia was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and started speed skating at the age of 4. Within her 24 year speed skating career she represented Canada at 2 Olympic Games, 6 World Championships and 46 World Cup starts.
She was the only athlete from North America to come out publicly in opposition to Russia’s anti LGBTQ+ laws before the Sochi 2014 Olympics. She now lives in Toronto and works for CBC Sports where she hosts Player’s Own Voice – The Podcast, and various Olympic digital shows, and has co-hosted CBC Sports Presents (CBC’s main sport property with Scott Russell and Andi Petrillo). She just came back from the Commonwealth Games after a very busy year of covering Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022, and is preparing for Paris 2024.
She is a passionate advocate for mental health issues, eradicating homophobia in sport, and telling the stories of Canada’s high performance athletes.
