in Winnipeg.
#1 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers to play in Championship
final – 6 p.m. CT start on Sunday, February 12
Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers are the host and enter the final with a semi final bye. They completed their second consecutive perfect regular season after an 8-0 conference record (In 2021-22: 12-0 regular season). The squad is looking to defend their title they won in 2022 and extend the CMU championship dynasty as they have won the last four MCAC championships (2018-22; no title in 2021 due to Covid-19).
In 2022-23, the Blazers averaged 88.3 points per game while holding teams to just 45.1 points during the eight regular season games.
The Top 3 MCAC scorers are Blazers. Co-Player of the Year winners Briana Ehrmantraut, 2nd year Forward/Guard, and co-captain Anna Pyne, 3rd year Guard, were first and second with 18.0 and 16.1 points per game while 2nd year forward Oluwanifemi Gbadamosi earned an All Conference selection and also tied for second in scoring with 16.1 ppg. Third year guard Reyna Reyes and 1st year forward Zia Dacara are third and fourth in steals per game at 2.6 and 1.9.
Head coach Joe Di Curzio in his ninth year will be watching the semi final match and will prepare the Blazers for another championship game. With being the number one seed, the Blazers play on Sunday, February 12 at 6 p.m. CT in front of their hometown crowd.
Semi final: #2 Providence University College (PUC) Pilots vs.
#3 Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges – 6 p.m. CT start on Friday,
February 10
This semi final match will determine who advance to the championship game. Both teams have met four times this year with the Providence University College (PUC) Pilots coming away with a victory during all the match-ups. PUC finished with a 4-4 record and would like to continue their winning ways against Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges.
Amver Navarro led the Pilots in scoring with 11.4 ppg. and fourth in MCAC. All Conference selections Abigail Matuszewski and Trinity Blair contributed 10.6 ppg. (6th in MCAC) and 7.6 (9th in MCAC). Blair is the team captain and also first in conference assist to turnover ratio at 8.0
In 2022-23, the Blazers averaged 79.9 points per game while holding teams to 57.3 points during the eight regular season games.

Les Rouges continue to establish their program in their second consecutive season back in MCAC since taking a break after the 2005-06 campaign.
In the second season, USB has battled hard during this year as they still seek their first win after a 0-8 mark and looking for the playoff upset. Their highest point output in 2022-23 was 46 points against the Pilots on Feb. 3 as they continue adding building blocks to the young program.
Second year guard Crystal Teichrieb leads USB in scoring and tenth in conference at 7.4 ppg. Rookie guard Miatta Dukuly is second on the team in scoring (16th in MCAC) at 4.3 ppg while Teichrieb is also eighth in conference rebounds per game at 4.1

Semi final: #2 Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers
vs. #3 Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges – 8 p.m. CT start on
Friday, February 10
The Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers will have a different path than last season to hopefully earn a championship final berth as they finished second in MCAC standings with a 4-4 record and will face off against Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges.
The Blazers have won all four match-ups against USB in 2022-23. In three of those four meetings, CMU has scored 90 or more points in wins.
This season, the Blazers averaged 84.4 points per game while holding teams to 68.8 points during the eight regular season games.
Two of the Top 4 MCAC scorers are Blazers. First year forward Daniel Cameron was named co-Player of the Year plus All Conference selection after third in MCAC points per game at 14.0 and first in MCAC in rebounds per game at 14.6. Rookie guard George Fedorchuk was fourth with 11.6 ppg.
