Spiros Kavadas is a veteran coach and educator with nearly three decades of experience in Manitoba’s basketball community. Since 2007, he has been the head coach of the varsity boys basketball team at John Taylor Collegiate in Winnipeg, where he has built a legacy of success, sportsmanship, and player development.
Spiros’s coaching journey began in 1995, and he has since contributed to high school basketball programs across Winnipeg, including Oak Park, Shaftesbury, St. James, and Kelvin High Schools. Beyond the high school level, he has also served as a head coach and assistant with several prominent club programs, such as Junior Bisons, Westside, and Evolve, further showcasing his commitment to developing players at all levels of the game.
In addition to his school and club roles, Spiros was part of the Manitoba Provincial Program, serving as an assistant coach and contributing to the growth of elite athletes across the province. His excellence on the sidelines has been recognized with the prestigious Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association (MHSAA) Basketball Coach of the Year award—an honour he has received twice during his career.
As an English and Physical Education teacher at John Taylor Collegiate, Spiros balances his passion for basketball with his dedication to education, mentoring students on and off the court.
