- WHY: Sport is the reason for staging the Manitoba Games.
- The Games are a competitive developmental opportunity for select sports to advance Basketball Manitoba's Long-Term Athlete and Coach Development.
- The Manitoba Games are often an athlete's first multi-sport Games experience. They help to identify Manitoba athletes who have the potential to advance to higher levels of competition, including the Manitoba Provincial Team and the 2025 Canada Games programs. After competing in the Manitoba Games, many athletes move on to become part of Team Manitoba.
- The Manitoba Games are the province's largest ongoing multi-sport program, bringing together participants from across the province. The Games are held every four years for basketball.
- The Manitoba Games are an excellent way for athletes to introduce themselves to a multi-sport environment. The sport of basketball, represented at the 2025 Canada Games at the 17U age level, is a perfect fit with the Train to Train stage of Long-Term Athlete Development. Basketball Manitoba aims to use the Manitoba Games as the first step in identifying and developing Manitoba athletes for future inter-provincial events and beyond.

- The camps will be run as open tryouts, and the respective regional coaches will use them to set a final roster of twelve (12) athletes per region per gender per team.
- This will result in as many as 8 male and 8 female teams (96 male athletes, 96 female athletes, for 192 athletes) heading into the August Games.
- Each region will set the twelve-team roster by June 15, 2024. The team will then set several training weekends through the August Games.
Manitoba's Regional Boundaries - please read carefully.
- All athletes must try out for their respective regions, of which they are permanent residents only.
- Please note that people living outside Winnipeg's city limits must try out for the respective region in which they live. The school a player attends has no bearing on where you try out. In cases of an athlete residing at 2 residences in different regions, the location where the athlete lives a majority of the time (51%) will determine the location.
- These boundaries are set by Sport Manitoba for all sports to follow.
- Refer to the map below for details on Manitoba's five regions. Click the image below for a more detailed map of the boundaries.
