The Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) is seeking an individual to fill the position of Executive Director. The WMBA is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to provide a positive environment for all Winnipeg and surrounding area youth, coaches, referees, and parents by promoting the sport of basketball through community centre programs.
The Position:
As the Executive Director for Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association, you are responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Association’s activities and resources in accordance with direction provided by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director, in this capacity, shall work with the Board of Directors in the development, review and implementation of Association policy and general operations of the league. The Executive Director shall have overall responsibility for the development of planning, programming, and fiscal management of the Association in accordance with approved policies.
The Candidate:
The WMBA is looking for a highly motivated and high-energy person who is capable of multi-tasking and has exceptional organizational skills. The candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience with financial and staff management and will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage the day-to-day activities of the organization. An understanding of Winnipeg Minor Basketball programs, the local basketball scene and the community centre system would be an asset.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- A post secondary degree or diploma in a business discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Must have at least two (2) years of previous management or executive director experience
- Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite
- Must have a valid driver's licence
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and calmness under pressure.
- Experience with leading, coaching, mentoring and performance management of staff/teams.
- The ability to set objectives, plan, prioritize, monitor and control resources of the organization to ensure tasks and projects are completed on time.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with different internal and external stakeholders
- Effective written skills to prepare clear reports and deal with a wide range of individuals.
Desired:
- Previous social media management experience is an asset
- Successful fundraising and development experience is an asset
- Experience in large-scale program development is an asset
- Experience scheduling space availability and resources against event requirements
- Salary: $70,000-$90,000 per year
