On August 14, the Honourable Glen Simard (pictured above to the left with MBHOF Chair Ross Wedlake), Minister of Sport, Culture and Heritage, visited the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame and Museum. He was very impressed with the fact that we are unique - Manitoba is still the only province with a permanent site for a basketball hall of fame and museum and there is no national hall of fame.

Over the past few years, we have had tremendous support from his department in the form of grants that have allowed us to expand our heritage collection and establish an on-line presence through Musetoba. We are very grateful.

Minister Simard is a former teacher/coach from Brandon who has coached basketball at the junior high school level. He has a real understanding of the value of sport and how quality coaching can have such a positive impact on our youth. He is, and will continue to be, a tremendous ally in our efforts to grow sport in our province.

We are very thankful that he made the effort to visit and connect with us.
