MHSAA 2025 JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The MHSAA 2025 Junior Varsity Basketball Championships showcased the top junior varsity teams from across Manitoba, with schools competing in both A/AA and AAA categories for boys and girls.
In the Girls A/AA division, Souris School secured the gold medal, defeating Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur (Co-Op), who took silver. Institut Collégial St Paul’s Collegiate (Elie) claimed the bronze medal, while Teulon Collegiate Institute earned the antique bronze. Hapnot Collegiate Institute won the consolation championship over Warren Collegiate Institute. The Girls AAA division saw Linden Christian School take gold, with Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School earning silver. Morden Collegiate Institute claimed bronze, while École Edward Schreyer School took the antique bronze. Centre scolaire Léo-Rémillard won the consolation championship over Sanford Collegiate.
In the Boys A/AA division, Glenboro/Baldur (Co-Op) took gold, defeating Immanuel Christian School, who earned silver. Frontier Collegiate Campus secured bronze, with Goose Lake High School earning the antique bronze. Minnedosa Collegiate won the consolation championship over Souris School. In the Boys AAA division, Collège St. Norbert Collegiate secured the gold medal, with Collège Louis-Riel finishing with silver. Niverville High School took bronze, while Linden Christian School earned the antique bronze. Faith Academy won the consolation championship over R.D. Parker Collegiate.
Notable individual performances were highlighted by several all-star and MVP selections. Tessa Penner from Souris Sabres was named Girls A/AA Provincial MVP, with Reena Dubois (St Paul’s), Kallie Anderson (Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur), Charlie Unrau (Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur), Blaire Laurson (Souris), and Keira Armitage (Souris) named to the all-star team. Owen McLean from Glenboro/Baldur Panthers was named Boys A/AA MVP, joined on the all-star team by Jessen Bighetty (Frontier Collegiate), Tosh Johnson (Goose Lake), Kylan Diehl (Glenboro/Baldur), Matthew Teitsma (Immanuel Christian), and David Welch (Immanuel Christian). Annie Wang of Linden Christian was named Girls AAA MVP, with Tiki Martens (Morden), Madison Ferland (DRCSS), Aubrey Carr (DRCSS), Veronica Johnson (Linden Christian), and Sofia Posillipo (Linden Christian) named to the all-star team. JD Lokofo from St. Norbert Celtics earned Boys AAA MVP honours, with Feranmi Oyeyiola (St. Norbert), Lehaad Abolore (St. Norbert), Felix Beaudry (Collège Louis-Riel), Marc Bashimbe (Collège Louis-Riel), and Hayden Hyduk (Niverville) making the all-star team.
