Providence University has announced the hiring of Kendall Perpall as the next Head Coach of the Pilots Women’s Basketball team.
Perpall brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the role and is no stranger to the Providence basketball community. He has spent the last six seasons as an assistant coach with the men’s team under Head Coach Pierre Dubreuil. During that time, he closely observed the growth of the women’s program under Coach Joel Coursey, who implemented System basketball in 2022. The team went on to capture both the NIAC and MCAC Championships in 2024, playing an up-tempo, high-pressure style of basketball.
Kendall is set to continue that philosophy and build on the team’s recent success.
A decorated student-athlete, Perpall played for Providence after beginning his post-secondary career at Randall University. His playing accolades include being named an MCAC All-Conference selection, NIAC All-Conference Team member, ACAA Nationals First Team All-American, NCCAA North Region First Team selection, and the Providence Team MVP in 2018. He helped lead the Pilots to top seeding in the NCCAA North Region, averaging 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals per game in national competition.
Following his collegiate career, Perpall went on to play professionally, founding a semi-pro team in Oklahoma before joining the PBA as a player-coach. He earned All-Star honours and later signed a pro contract with the Moncton Motion of the ECBL in 2023.
Off the court, Kendall has built an extensive coaching résumé that includes leadership roles with PBL, Steinbach Storm, and YMCA club teams. He has guided dozens of athletes to post-secondary opportunities, emphasizing player development, team culture, and personal growth. He is also the founder of Team Overseen, a grassroots program focused on developing overlooked talent and fostering community impact.
As he takes over the women’s program, Kendall aims to honour the 13-year legacy left by Coach Joel Coursey, continuing to instil accountability, character, work ethic, and faith in the next generation of Pilots student-athletes.
